PRINCESS VOLUNTEERS
A ROYAL DUTY
The Princess Pageant Princesses work very hard (think 5 rehearsals before the first event) to learn choreography and every detail of the Princess Pageant experience so that when she meets the Participants, she’s royally ready to go! The Participants know that they can rely on their Princess Friends to know what to do, where to go, and make it fun! The Princesses even take the stage with the Participants to ease their anxieties during their presentations. They are kind, fun, outgoing and smiling – if this sounds like you, please fill out an application!
WHAT DOES A PRINCESS VOLUNTEER DO?
Our Princess Volunteers are all special helpers that provide an amazing experience for all of our Participants. Without these volunteers we would not be able to provide such a wonderful Pageant for our girls.
PRINCESS RESPONSIBILITIES:
- They commit to a rigorous rehearsal schedule.
- They learn the Group Pose (it sounds harder than it looks!), the Princess Dance, the Pageant rundown, the tightly choreographed entrance, exit, and awards ceremony.
- They practice (over and over and over...) as they perfect each of these elements so that when the Participants arrive they can feel confident that their Princess Friend knows exactly where to be and what to do at all times.
- They are trained to know all of the answers and soothe potentially stressed Participants.
- They help out in case of emergencies. But don't worry, we also have trained medical staff on hand for serious situations. You will always have help if you need it!
PAST PRINCESS TESTIMONIALS
"I was honored to be part of Ms. Wheelchair Utah Princess Pageant founded by Meg Johnson. She is the essence of true beauty. The theme was "The Beauty Within". I think beauty is found in such willingness to face fear, build others up, and do hard things. These girls show just that. True beauty can be found, felt and lived when we know who we really are - when we see ourselves and others as children of a loving Heavenly Father. Deep beauty is the kind of beauty that shines from the inside out. These facets of true beauty that these girls have inspire me. They make me want to be a better, kinder, and a more faith-filled person. I loved this opportunity!"

"After volunteering for Miss Wheelchair Utah Princess Pageant, I learned that people will not remember you for who you are or what you said or did. They will remember you for how you made them feel. In my case, my princess, Emylie, remembered me (not only as Snow White but how I, as a real girl, made her) feel: happy. Our short time we spent together impacted her as powerfully as it impacted me. Our hearts touched and we knew each other."

"One of the best and most heartfelt experiences I have had. The girls were amazing to work with and I’m grateful to have been part of it."

"Being a princess for this special princesses pageant was a dream come true. It was such a special night to be able to gather with the little princesses on wheels. In my eyes, they are the greatest of all fairytale princesses. Our princesses on wheels are courageous warriors, true sweethearts, and powerful individuals. While being with them and their families I often reflected on the inner strength that they have had while overcoming hard things. In these strong, beautiful, and big hearted girls we see that royalty really is among us."

"I have been a princess in the wheelchair pageant for a few years now and it has been one of the most amazing experiences. The contestants have taught me so many lessons of hope and love. The girls are an incredible example of not dwelling on what we can’t do, but seeing and focusing on the good in every situation and enjoying what we can do in life."
